Sant’Ana Church

Church of Saint Ana. Small church in the middle of the hills of Algarve, close to São Bartolomeu de Messines. It was the site of a battle in 1834 and the soldiers that perished in that battle are buried on the site. To get to the place a 4x4 is the best vehicle. The building is closed but has a couple of tables outside for pick-nicks.

This ruined chapel is unfortunately closed and are distinguished by loose planks of the door, the remains of an ancient altar. Note the beautiful door handles. The view of the River Arade is friendly and it's nice to take a break in the shade of carob.
