Restaurant Economico

Lovely ladies, good old fashioned food. It was 2.30pm and we were getting a bit desperate so we tried the Economico which says it's speciality is roast chicken but when we said we were vegetarian they rustled up a delicious chickpea stew with broccoli and steamed potatoes in about 5 minutes. And the prices are definitely Economico and good coffee. A real gem.

A real Portuguese restaurant. Their English is very limited but they are lovely ladies and it is good honest simple food. If you say 'vegetarian' they will make you something nice....with no meat (they will ask if you want dried cod though - bacalhau ). We wandered in and had boiled eggs, chick peas, broccoli and boiled potatoes, very very nice! Beats having egg and chips...again 🙂The galao (milky coffee) was the best she's had this trip according to Mother. They also serve chicken etc of course for those less vegetarian!
