Ilha de Tavira und Santa Luzia

Ilha de Tavira and the mainland part in front of it called Santa Luzia is a very nice local recreation area at the gates of Tavira. The island can be reached on foot or with a former donkey train, which the Portuguese have now equipped with a smelly and oil-dripping diesel engine in accordance with Portuguese environmental standards (very low). If he drives past you, the whole nature reserve stinks of a 60 year old diesel. In times of Euro 6 and 7 and 8, one wonders why such a dirt thrower has to operate in a nature reserve. In summer the high-speed train is of course the cause of endless waiting times and whining children. However, you can also take one of the high-quality island ferries from Tavira and come across the water. Once you have arrived on the island of Tavira you can visit one of the restaurants or take a wonderful walk on the beach. To the east it goes about 8 km in the direction of Tavira or 10 km in the west to Fuzeta. The beaches are reminiscent of the North Sea with their dunes and it would be a nice thing if there wasn't rubbish lying around everywhere. Here are some photos.
