Tavira Walking Tours

Having been told by the Tavira Tourist Information that there were no available walking tours, I was pleased to be told by my hotel that they could arrange one on my behalf through Tavira Walking Tours. Of my four days in Tavira, this was undoubtedly the best experience I had; being collected from the hotel by Filipe for one of their countryside walks. Not far from Tavira we walked through a beautiful landscape of cork trees, orange groves, and olive trees, and picturesque farms where time seemed to have stood still. It was interesting being in the countryside which is largely unseen from the road or train. Filipe was hugely informative, and has a huge knowledge of the local history, as well as a fund of knowledge concerning the flora and fauna of the countryside. We had a welcome snack of Portuguese cheese/bread/olive oil and oranges en route. He spoke excellent English, and was lovely company. I only regretted being unable to do one of the City Tours with him. Many thanks!
