Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy

Lovely little chapel, reopened since 2016 after being closed decades. They just discovered a new secret passage🕯️. They are waiting for governmental approval to pursue where the tunnel leads 🧱

It is nice to visit but it is poorly maintained. In addition, it is located next to a school and the children go out to the patio of the church itself to play loud music or to smoke. Inside the church you can find an overburdened baroque style with pieces of goldsmithing that are beautiful, like the Virgin and the altarpiece. At the entrance they give you a brochure with information about the place in several languages

Datada de 1490, foi mandada construir por D. Manuel, Duque de Beja. A capela apresenta janelas manuelinas bem visíveis do exterior, com um interior barroco tardio muito trabalhado e rico em talha dourada. Pode ainda observar-se a série de pinturas atribuíveis a André de Reinoso, da primeira metade do século XVII. Está situada no interior do antigo Hospital Grande de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, onde se situa o Museu da Farmácia.
