Have heard of bandeirantes before, but never heard any names. This man was the first, if not one of the first. Important: he lived a hundred years after Cabral (who discovered Brazil), although to us they seem from the same era. The bandeirantes were important because they roamed far and wide through what became Brazil, establishing the flag of Portugal. They are the reason modern Brazil is the biggest country in South America, occupying over half of the continent. Btw, "bandeirantes" means "flag-bearers".
