Fußweg | Levadaweg nach Faja dos Padres (Funicular/cable railway)

Would you like a small cable car event and a great view? (This is my destination Faja dos Padres - supposedly only accessible by car or taxi in relevant travel guides) Then get on line 8 from Rodoeste in Funchal, around 10 a.m. towards Madalena do Mar / Quinta Grande. Once there, at the bus stop, head down towards the town center (see map / photos) and cross the motorway, which ends in a tunnel. Here, gradually loosened up by stairs, the gradual descent to the cable car station begins along a small levada. You walk through small, nicely laid out gardens, meet curious pets and have a fabulous view of the Quinta Grande valley. From the levada you walk about 20 minutes further down the valley and reach it without traffic disturbance. the Faja dos Padres cable car station. Enjoy the wonderful view of the "abyss" here, where a wonderful allotment garden was created - before you buy the ticket (10 euros there and back / as of 2019) for the 4-minute train journey. Worth it. The way back is similar if, for example, you take line 4 (Rodoeste) around 3 p.m., starting from Quinta Grande, the way back to Funchal. ps: don't forget to bring your bathing suit ...
