The female person picking up the phone was not able to understand or speak english, nor any other language than portuguese. When i asked for 'el Chefe' i was transferred a man, who also did not understand anything and just hung up on me. Clearly not suitable persons to do this public job in a place with so many foreigners (who pay their salaries in the end)!

Got a parking violation ticket for nothing... Take care if you have a rented car, the nice colleagues from Transport Dept. seem to be very keen on ticketing you even though you park on the street with no parking restriction signs... Rude but true, you have to pay the fine, anyway... or else you should pay 2x as much for your rental company after they receive a ticket copy as an owner. A sheer nonsense, making guests of Funchal a kind of victims even without being guilty...?!

Our kids wanted a photo with the officers and it ended up with a guided tour where they were allowed to get handcuffs and police helmets, try to keep a squat and a shield, sit in police cars and motorcycles and get greeted by secret cops . A big experience!

Was greeted by a group of nice cops who welcomed us and offered our 3 kids a tour of their cars. It is great to be greeted with such kindness and enthusiasm - very professional. Thanks for an unforgettable experience !!
