I just left the office and the woman had no time for me just impatient and trying to get rid of me fast. She was on the phone when I came in and put whoever on hold. Terrible service!

If you are visiting Funchal then do as we do and call in past the nearest Tourist Information which is easy to find as you can get so much local information for free. We were on a cruise ship found the office with no problem. The first item we get ask for is usually a local map followed by directions to the major tourists attractions. The staff here were very helpful and informative and gave us some helpful tips about the town.

Went into the Post de Informacao in Funchal as various posters for the English Church indicated tickets for performances were available for purchase from the tourist office. Lady (I use the term loosely) was offhand and as much help as a chocolate teapot. I thought tourist officers were meant to help tourists - how wrong I was as the dour faced woman was determined not to be helpful in any way. Madeira and Funchal such lovely places - you would think the powers that be placed more emphasis on employing staff to promote rather than accepting substandard people.

It is essential to have a relationship with this office to book tickets for shows that have seating restrictions during the covid period. They can be requested for 3 or 2 people with an alternate free seat (by the way: the chairs are disinfected so if you sit down then you don't have to change. If the chairs are transportable you can change them by taking them with you. Mask required.) Very nice staff, but he does not speak Italian so it is better to leave an email along with a mobile number to be notified of the ticket collection at this office, if you do not understand English well.

Due to the sometimes large and extremely aggressive street dogs in the area, visiting the Tourist Info or the way there can be a very uncomfortable time-waster. The dogs sometimes come closer than a meter away, bark aggressively and snap at legs and hands - we have already spoken to other tourists who were prompted to leave Funchal prematurely.
