Free Walking Tours Funchal

Lisa, the proprietor of Free Walking Tours Funchal, was everything you could want in a tour guide. She's a local with an evident love of her city, multilingual, engaging (taking time to get to know every member of our group), and clearly had a very impressive knowledge of the history and geography of Madeira. Her tour is structured, well paced and thoroughly researched, and the 2.5 hours flew by. She was happy to take our group's many questions. The free tour does stop at one local business, a confectioner, for free samples, but there is no pressure to buy if you are not interested (although you probably will be as they were excellent). If you're in Madeira for a day, do Lisa's tour. If you're in Madeira longer, start your trip with Lisa's tour and she'll be happy to suggest what you should do with the rest of your time.
