Drove a long ride to visit AND swim. „Opened“ / website.
Unfortunately - gate closed, small paper hanging at the entrance desk „closed today“. Lady outside with a key - goes in and out but won’t allow entrance. Great sunny weather, some people waiting outside - absolutely no way to get in. I recommend to remove opening times from the website - better call them before driving up to the far North end of the island. Otherwise - great great place, wonderful weather and just a brilliant seaside. This was my very only negative experience at Madeira - everything else was just fantastic !
One of the main tourist attractions in Madeira. It’s quite a scenic spot, sometimes overcrowded, and the water is not balmy. It’s a beautiful place to have a walk around and enjoy the wild Atlantic waves bashing the rugged coastline. If you want a less crowded natural swimming pool, you should definitely check out the one in Seixal.
Beautiful natural pools! And completely free. I walked down, found a lovely spot to lay my towel and spent the next several hours enjoying the views and reading my book. There is a bathroom up at the restaurant I was able to use, and free parking just a few blocks away. Would definitely recommend spending the day enjoying the sunshine here!
Such a beautiful place that must be lovely to visit when the weather is better. I would love to go swimming in that fresh water pool. There is even a restaurant right there. I would recommend visiting there anyways to watch those beautiful waves.
Visited on December 30 2020. The pools were being lashed by ferocious waves, so fortunate they were roped off. Looked like it could be fun in different weather.
