Levada do Furado is the most dramatic levada walk that I’ve done in Madeira. I started in Ribeiro Frio and finished in Portela. This walk is for fearless adventurers who don’t mind walking on the edge of the deep valleys of the laurel forest. There are multiple tunnel crossings too. The views are spectacular and I personally didn’t find the walk very strenuous. I highly recommend doing this levada walk when you’re on the island.

Simply a cannon walking route - one way or another. it goes through heath, forest. It goes on cliff sides and even through the rocks. In some places there is a 2 meter wide path, other than ½ meter to walk on. But it is reasonably easy to go almost the whole trip. And everywhere there are beautiful views ... if the clouds are not in the valleys below you, and beautiful waterfalls. At this end there is a bus stop. Be sure to check the times because it is not running late. There is often a taxi here, as they know that people have to drive back to the cold valley (Ribera Frio)

Great place super !! I recommend it, it is accessible with public transport from Funchal and back too, if you can wait a long time by taxi, bargain or assemble a larger group and it will be the same and cheaper. Attention, the stop is slightly lower than the viewing platform, opposite the cafe!
