Levada do Caniço - Sul

From the looks of it's a very beautiful levada but it's not an official PR hiking trail which means that there are no security measures and the trail is a little bit worn out here and there. I would have loved to experience the whole hike but a big landslide blocked our way after about half an hour. We'll try again next year.

Long way up, but you can see the local life, to stop for the drink and ...finally you in a wild nature!

Great views but quite narrow path which is quite uneven in places and a bit vertiginous

Beautiful levada, but you have to be sure-footed and free from giddiness. The first part from Camacha is long and steep. Then the actual levada path follows. Often the path is narrow, slippery and rocky. Wonderful if you don't mind. At the end there is a short rock tunnel. During our hike, the edge of the tunnel at the end of the tunnel collapsed and dammed the water. In underpants we went through the chest-high water and carried everything on our head through the tunnel and over the fresh demolition. We continued without underwear, but with dry pants 😉 We informed the authorities so that the route could be secured and repaired. From below you can quickly reach the tunnel and see whether the path is clear again.

Very nice levada hike, it should be released for all hikers again.
