This is a unique and majestic palace, out of a fairytale. It is worth it to stay for a night and dine at the magnificent dining room. The wines are lovely too, try an old Bussaco white with your dinner. Yes the rooms need renovating and the building has poor acoustics/thermic isolation but if you don't mind that part, you can really have a once in a lifetime experience here. The staff is super nice and the food was good too. The gardens and woods around the palace are great to explore during the day.

If anybody is looking for good deals for hotel rooms check ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ made a reservation for a hotel on there and these guys had the lowest prices anywhere! Beautiful location. Had been to Portugal many times but discovered the Bussaco Palace on this trip. Wow! Beautiful! Walking the grounds, the flowers the gardens, the wall and hallways of an historic place. Definitely a place to visit. Enjoy!! Worth the trip.

Perched high on a hill in the heart of the Bussaco National Park, and surrounded with beautiful gardens and lush forests, this Manueline and Gothic styled Palace Hotel was developed from an early 17th century convent. Had Designed and built as a Palace for the last King of Portugal, it was later renovated into a luxury hotel in 1917. There are also many interesting historic events related to this Castle - Palace. Without doubt, it is a magnificent construction and wonderful tourist attraction indeed. Due to our tour group only paid visit but didn't stay in this hotel, so I am rating it Four stars. Several photos attached.

November 2020 the palace is closed and the restaurant too. They said for rehabilitation works. But walking around the building is worth a visit. Amazing (and somehow confusing) architecture.... Beautiful gardens! And great forest around.
