Amazing place, you sleep in and you are treated like in a castle with old fashioned charm, beautiful garden, pool and river beach. Very nice super clean rooms, excellent friendly service (in english). We spent 5 days with small kids here...very welcoming. Lunch and dinner on terrace - simple and homemade with a lot of conveniences and style. Booking best by Email.

We stayed here the two past nights. PRO: - beautiful location at the banks of the Douro with a spectacular view and an extensive garden with swimming pool to discover; - big clean rooms; - delicious dinners (including a mouth watering grilled dorado!) - a very polite and helpful young lady (Gabriela?) who's pretty fluent in English - decent, basic breakfast CON: - the place has potential, but feels dated (a lot of the furniture in the rooms is antique, but the carpets and bedsheets look old and smelly; the bathrooms are very basic,...) - the rest of the staff speaks very little to no English - rather slow wifi & only in the common area Oh and we had the room closest to the railway track (like in: looking out on to the track), but we did not find it an issue.
