The best restaurant in town. I’ve been spending my summer holidays and the odd weekends at Vila Praia Âncora since I was a baby. I’m now 40. I’ve sweeped all restaurants around and this is one that I keep coming back to. No hassle, just plain good service and excellent. The “Filetes de Pescada” here are world-famous, but everything on the menu is good.

Wow! Absolutely the best service and food we have had during our Portuguese and Spainish trip. The white fish...amazing. The veal...amazing. Portions were large . Waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Everyone in our group of five was extremely pleased.

As others have said this restaurant serves excellent, we'll priced local food, with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere BUT beware unexpected additions to the bill. The unsolicited starters seem to be the norm around here but were also overcharged for water. All removed with minimal fuss when we questioned the bill but still a negative way to end to an otherwise very good meal. A shame, as otherwise we would happily have gone back again- we might still but are now much more inclined to look elsewhere.
