Cabo Raso Lighthouse

In this Cape I have already spent long hours photographing, the framing that the surrounding sea brings at certain angles, allows a photographic composition of high beauty. Cabo Raso Lighthouse is a Portuguese lighthouse located in Cabo Raso, in São Brás de Sanxete Fort, parish and municipality of Cascais, Lisbon District. Built at the Fort of S. Braz, the Cabo Raso Lighthouse began operating on January 1, 1894, thus completing 120 years of existence this year. For economic reasons, the luminous device was installed on a slab positioned in front of one of the windows of the lighthouse keeper's house, and, after its use, it was retracted into the room by means of a mobile reel that rested on rails. In 1914, the lighthouse started to have an audible signal, namely a compressed air horn, which forced the installation of groups of engines and respective tanks in a division built for the purpose, whose equipment still exists today. In the following year, the light from the lighthouse was finally transferred to the current 13-meter high metal tower.

If you enjoy nature and a nice sea view this is the perfect spot to visit in Portugal. The blue green coloured Atlantic Ocean water, the rocky cliffs and the lighthouse make this place special, the kind you usually see in movies only. The sea breezy blows hard sometimes so make sure to bring some cloths.

Nice and quiet place to watch the Ocean without a lot of people.
