Interesting church and gothic cloister to visit. Like in all churches in Portugal there is a small fee to enter.

This gets a very rare 5 stars. Highlight of my trip to Coimbra. This is a Fortress-Church, built by the Visigoths before the year 800. Put that in perspective...it's PRE-DARK AGES! it's PRE-MIDIEVEL!!! which is commonly defined as the period the Goths were defeated by the Moors in the west...and Rome fell. This fotress-Church is very well preserved, and has a great deal of orginsl materials still present, but from the 1600's and later. The condition is astoundingly good! The Goths left such a positive influence on this region. So sad we really do not know much about their language or culture
