Came here recommended by some online travel blog I read, therefore a bit skeptical. I'm so glad I did... Very good portuguese sweets, downed with black coffee (probably the hottest coffee I've ever drank, so beware). I tried the classic pastel de nata, Berlin bomb, pastel de Santa Clara and queijada. All were very good and left me wanting more despite being stuffed. Then came the time to pay, and I almost didn't believe it when she told me it was 4,40 € for everything... I'd go back every day if I could.

(I wrote this memo in 2015.) If you go to Café Palmeira for pastries, you should go early. This place is packed with locals and there won’t be much left later in the day. Coffee is good here, too, and the prices are fair. It’s located near the municipal office of Coimbra, at the southern end of Rua Sofia.

Atendimento péssimo. Ainda não tinha recepcionado o pedido e já estavam a pedir o pagamento. Muito antipático. Local a não voltar.
