The wife and I visited last Tuesday. We took the train from Braga just for lunch as I had researched the restaurant in the states and made it a must visit. We were surprised upon entering! Linen on the tables, shiny stemware, immaculate bar, super clean. We had no reservations but were welcomed in 20 minutes before their official opening time for lunch. It was a very hot day for the train ride and their air conditioning was working very well! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as we struggled with the menu and we relied on their recommendation. We did the whole thing, even the extras they bring to the table knowing full well there will be a charge. We wanted to have the full experience. Had the appetizers and then soup, followed by a beef tenderloin wrapped in pastry that was sliced into about 15 slices, perfectly rare and just enough seasoning, followed with fries, cabbage and carrots, and rice. She had a bottle of white wine and I had a red. Finished everything except for two slices of meat. I could barely breathe. Then a nice desert and a freebie of a tawny port that was nearly 30 years old. What a great leisurely lunch. The whole place seats about 25. It filled and they turned the tables again. This place should have a Michelin star or two. Service was perfect.
