Stoic, Spartan, Stately, Humble, and Free - those are the best words to describe this municipal sports complex. If only every city in the world had a communal place where anyone - regardless of economic status - could come and do sports of all types from swimming to track & field, even Basketball. Foolish, entitled people will claim it needs refurbishing, but that would be completely blind to the reality that this stadium and its surrounding complexes are built almost entirely of stone, built to stand for thousands of years in the tradition of the Roman ruins that still stand around Braga itself. Also, the spartan utility of the place makes it cost very little to run and upkeep. The modern human often doesn't understand that the less fancy and new something is, while still functioning, the less upkeep is neccessary, and the less likely it is that the facilities will be vandalized or abused. This stadium has stood utilitarian atop the hill above a beautiful park, and been used for sporting people since its inception, not too far back, in 1950, and I believe aside from minor upkeep, its one of those things that are best left as is. Not as an economic money-making venue, but as a service for the community and it's health overall.
