The good! ..
Nice rooms, comfortable modern hostel bed and a very nice hotel/hostel inside. It’s decorated to a high spec and the bathrooms are modern with good showers. There are great views and there’s some additional great amenities like kitchen, outdoor relaxing / smoking area on the roof etc.
The inclusive breakfast is very basic, no cooked or hot food really but it’s included so I’m thankful for that.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and supportive, Caesar just handles my check out and he is great.
What they can do better:
The lift! It is unbelievably slow, to an extreme and seems unreliable. If they fixed this it would make a huge difference.
The bathrooms on 2 floor have a very strange door where it’s not possible to open the shower door when inside. Also the bathroom lights time off which is annoying and not safe, 3 times the bathroom went into pitch black darkness when showering and I had to get out the shower in the dark, open the door and wave my arms around to get the lights back on with the sensor. This does need to be fixed for sure.
All around:
I’d definitely recommend it here, the things to work on are minor compared with the positives. presuming they read the feedback and take action. Thanks for a nice stay!
It's okay people are friendly
A beautiful hotel held back by technical difficulties.
As an aviation lover, the interiors of the rooms are nothing short of to die for. The beautiful pictures of old aircraft on the walls, the little descriptions of the history of each aircraft underneath. The keychain to your room with a wonderful Boeing 314 Clipper with your room number on the back of it's wings just makes the aviation geek in me so excited!!
However.
During my stay, the one (slow) elevator got stuck with guests inside. We were assured this was a brand new installment and it should work fine.
We did not use it for the rest of our stay.
The air conditioning in the room when turned on to cool the room would only work for an hour and suddenly would stop turning my room into what felt like a sauna.
My window to sleep was an hour of cool and then woke up drentched in sweat where I would have to turn on the AC again.
And those little 3D printed key chains of the Clipper 314 I mentioned earlier. The wings (with my room number) broke off within the first day of my stay being in my bag or pocket. The same happened with my friends keys who were staying also. Its a beautiful idea but unless the hotel wishes to replace every one after every guest stay, it would be wise to replace them with cast metal planes instead.
End thoughts:
The staff are friendly and the views truly can't be beat. I hope these teething issues can be sorted in the coming months, then I would happily give 5 stars!
Beautiful rooms, fantastic renovated rooms, super service and friendly staff, really great value or money!
Backpackers, solo travelers and whoever that will book the dorm rooms,
this one is for you:
Pros:
Location is good
Nice design
A balcony with a cool pico mountain view to chill at.
Cons:
- One bathroom and shower only for all men in the doorms + cant be locked, no privacy feeling at all.
- No soap provided to wash hands at the bathroom, and little toilet paper.
- elevator is super super slow, small and not ventilated and to get to the dorm rooms you must climb all stairs up to 4th floor every time.
- kitchen is not so usefull and lacking of cooking equipment, they have only a small fridge, a kettle, microwave and a toaster.
- AC in the men's room automatically sets itself back to 28 Celsius, makes it hard to sleep at night if its hot.
-bed mattress wasn't comfortable, had little back support and unstable.
Plus blankets are bed sized and lacking of size, very strange and not comfortable.
-breakfast is basic, and has very watery bad coffee, they have a cafe of the hotel next door and it feels they want you to only eat there.
- No tea or coffee is provided in the kitchen, compared to other hostels this is pretty lacking.
- Upper bunk beds storage compartment is placed very high and hard to reach.
For the hotel/hostel
I hope you'll take those things into consideration and improve your service for the guests who are using the doorm rooms.
