Igreja da Misericórdia

Todas as igrejas daqui são maravilhosas.

A small baroque chapel rather than a church with a whitewashed façade like most of the buildings in Monsaraz, although, as the experts say, this white is not as old as the walls of the whole town are made of slate, like the walls. In the main altarpiece a painting of the Visitation and in a side glazed niche a Nazarene. Several small boxes of favors to the faithful and in the choir the chairs and the chair of the Abbot of the brotherhood of Mercy.

Bonita, típica alentejana

Small church, located in front of the mother church of Nuestra Señora de la Laguna (Nossa Senhora da Lagoa), erected during the 16th century and incorporated into the complex of the former Hospital of the Holy Spirit. Built in baroque style, it is of a very simple architecture; on its facade we can highlight the royal marble coat of arms of José I; inside there is an image of the Lord Jesus of the Steps, patron saint of Monsaraz, offering of the Duke of Bragança, Theodosius II. In any case, nothing of relevant interest; if we find it open, we can take a look since the entrance is free. The opening hours are from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
