Touriga Wine & Dine

Perfect place, where tasteful local food perfectly goes along with Portuguese wine. Owner knows a lot of wine spice combinations and Portuguese wines in particular. Great atmosphere combined with incredible food and wine.

First impression of the place was good. The atmosphere also nice. At the beginning we asked for a good recommendation of a good, full-bodied red wine. The wine we got was OK, not bad but then we noticed that all other tables without exception got the same bottle of wine. Don't understand the reason asking for a special recommendation if the main goal of the service and restaurant is to sell the same wine to everybody. That was the first point we felt that was not pretty correct. Then we ordered some starters and of course the prices were twice so big as in other places on the same street. For us no problem, if the quality and presentation is good. The baby squids we've got (6 small pieces without anything else on the plate) =10 EUR; were not cleaned from inside and all the innards completely destroyed the whole taste of the dish. We of course cleaned it in order to eat it but it was not tasteful anymore as it should be. I asked extra at the end if that is normal not to clean the squids and the answer was yes. Ehmm NO actually the normal thing is to clean the innards and this was always a normal thing in every country we have been and enjoyed this kind of starter. At the end we paid for the *special bottle of red wine* - 21 Euro which is very overpriced! for that region. You usually pay for a good bottle of wine the half of it and it tastes fantastic. At the end as an advice for the parents who plan visiting this place with kid we could say that it is not so children welcome as we experienced until now in Carvoeiro (also going for a drink or food after 6 pm it is better to go in other place where you will feel more comfortable). Even no high chair available. Very unusual and not something positive.

Great service, wine and tapas. The waiter knew a lot about his Portuguese wines it was very insightful. Great for all year round. Will come again soon!

The best Lulinhas (baby squid) we have tasted and Trio de Pestos as starters. Main dish and Crumble Algarvia also at high level, together with a nice Touriga wine.
