Quiet place to relax, excellent views and a private outdoor pool.
The place is very tidy and clean, there's a bar close to the hotel and a nature walk
Good alternative to Algarve Beaches. Thermal water is good for skin.
At the moment Monchique is very quiet and empty with a few families enjoying the peace and tranquility of the gardens. The jacaranda trees are in full bloom, the art shop and beer hall are waiting for customers.
My wife and I chose this hotel for our holidays as it was away from tourism, she is a doctor and well known about the Covid19 situation. For our surprise, there was a guest at breakfast buffet salon coughing indoor really badly several times, what made other guests go out of the salon very quick to the terrace. Myself and others guests complaint to the waiters but none of them did anything with this guest, they would only say the manager was informed. I realized this guest was manipulating food at the buffet with no gloves what definitely put others in risk, same as the staff were not wearing gloves when manipulating the cutlery or plate of this sick guest and then manipulating the food for the rest of the guests having breakfast. I asked to talk to the manager, Mr. Jose Castilho, who came to the reception but was not willing to talk to me even though he was 2 meters from me and told the receptionist that "maybe it was a flu", he was rude by ignoring me and also by ignoring the serious situation happening at the breakfast salon. I asked twice for the complaint book and they refused to give it to me. They did not communicate at all with the guests affected during breakfast neither to apologize of provide information about the actions taken by the hotel to avoid this in the future. It is obvious Covid19 does not mean much to them and they have taken the opportunity to also close many of the facilities they advertise to sell rooms. I strongly would not recommend visiting this hotel as it is potentially dangerous of Covid19 looking at the way it is managed and also as you will not enjoy the facilities as they are closed, what can be expected when the manager simply does not care about any potential risk of Covid19 for his guests?
Pretty mountain spa village. Looks like it has been rather neglected but finally someone is investing. Job in progress, especially hotel Termal, which is a mess. Central and D.Carlos better.
Lovely central square for sitting snd eating and drinking. Staff fine.
Easy access to hikes in Monchique hills.
