Unfortunately, this impressive cork oak obviously did not survive a fire. According to the inscription, it was "harvested" a year earlier and the newly grown, thin layer of cork could not protect it sufficiently. But it (still) remains an imposing tree in a bizarre place.

The short walk leads to a natural monument: the oldest cork oak (about 800 years). From Manchique to Corte Grande until the end of the tarred road. It is not far from the tarred road (3 minutes) but it is not easy to find because there is a whole forest of cork oaks. This old cork oak is located near the farmstead. Who takes the forest is already wrong! Nearby there is still a fallen old copy (2017) but still growing.
