Volgograd, right there. Question by the moderator: It is not known in honor of which saint / holiday the temple was consecrated. According to the authors of the city encyclopedia, the Old Believers appeared on the territory of Chelyabinsk almost simultaneously with the foundation of the city. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with the growth of the population of Chelyabinsk, the number of representatives of this denomination significantly increased. For example, if in 1901 706 Old Believers were officially registered in Chelyabinsk, then in 1908 there were already 1893. Today, the Old Believer Pomeranian community of Chelyabinsk has no more than a hundred believers - much less than at the beginning of the 20th century, but still much more than a prayer house on Volgogradskaya Street can accommodate. This house, by the way, has its own story. After the authorities closed three prayer houses in the regional center in the thirties, the Old Believers of the Pomor community, always zealously defending the values of the old faith, were left without a corner. This continued until one of the parishioners sheltered them, and after her death bequeathed to the community her modest dwelling. This was the house on Volgogradskaya street. But if several decades ago it was possible to gather in it to perform the necessary religious rites (and they are much stricter and longer among the Old Believers than those of official Orthodoxy), now the house on Volgogradskaya is in disrepair, it is constantly being flooded, for this reason it is rotting the floor, the walls are damp, the plaster is crumbling. Since the representatives of the Pomeranian Old Believer community are officially recognized religious organizations, they are registered, and in 1971 the anathema to which they were betrayed at the Church Council in 1666–1667 was lifted, the members of the Chelyabinsk community considered it possible and advisable to contact the city administration with a letter in which they ask for a separate building to be allocated to them.
