The Chapel of the Prophet Elijah

The chapel of Elijah the Prophet was built in the early 2000s at the site of the eponymous temple demolished in 1936. This temple was built in 1789, where the Znamenskie gates of the Omsk fortress once stood. The church was built on the initiative of Lieutenant-General Nikolai Ogarev, who was then commander-in-chief in Omsk. After the destruction of the church on the very spot where the foundation of the Elias Church remained, a monument to V. I Lenin was erected, and the modern chapel of Elijah the Prophet - a little further away. The chapel is located in the heart of the city and is clearly visible from the street. Lenin.
