good good
The new fortress project was developed by Lieutenant General Springer and engineer Malm. Its construction began on May 2, 1765. The fortress occupied an area of about 30 hectares, its borders were the banks of Omi and Irtysh, Archiera Street (today Krasina Street) and Kolpakovskaya Street (now Nekrasova). In the corners of the fortification there were four bastions - Podgorny, Stepnoy, Forshtadt and Tarsky and three half-bastions - Omsk, Irtysh and Ilyinsky. The second Omsk fortress, like the first, had four entrances - Omsk, Irtysh, Tobolsk and Tara gates. Only the Tobolsk ones have survived in their original form. In 1991, the Tara Gate was restored, which became a kind of visiting card of the city. The first building of the fortress - the “headquarters” - has survived to this day and is considered the oldest building in Omsk. The first stone building - the Resurrection Cathedral - was laid in 1764. A guardhouse was built near the cathedral in 1781. It housed commandant rule, a garrison school, and a fortress guard. On the edge of the fortress, in the Steppe bastion, a convict prison was erected. In the second quarter of the 19th century, the Decembrists were exiled here, and from 1850 to 1854 the Petrashevists: Fedor Dostoevsky and Sergey Durov served their prison sentences. In 1864, the Omsk fortress was abolished. Fortifications of the fortress were preserved only partially in the beginning of the 20th century. In July 2009, the historical and cultural complex "Omsk Fortress" began to be reconstructed. The list of objects required for restoration included the fortress gate with moats and ramparts, the Resurrection Cathedral, and some lost monuments. By the 293rd anniversary of Omsk, the fortress was already receiving its first visitors.
Glory to Yazov
A cool place, a corner breathing history. I like to walk here. Here you can feel the history of the Omsk fortress, with which our city began. I usually walk here on weekdays so that there are fewer people. So better is the union with the place. I am glad that in our city there is such a place. I hope it will only develop.
History is always interesting. The place where the formation of statehood took place on Siberian soil.
