The Jerusalem Church (also the Church of the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem) is an Orthodox church in Irkutsk, located in the historical center of the city, on the street of the Fighters of the Revolution. One of the oldest Orthodox churches in Irkutsk. The first stone church in the Jerusalem cemetery was built at the expense of the merchant Mikhail Sibiryakov in 1793-1795. On September 23, 1820, a new stone Entrance-Jerusalem Church was laid. In 1830, the main construction works were completed (without interior decoration). July 25, 1835 the church was consecrated. In 1890, two chapels were added to the church from the south and north. The architecture of the church was unusual for the cult construction of Irkutsk and corresponded to the trends of classicism. In 1931, the church was closed, it housed the school of culture. In March 2000, the building was transferred to the authority of the Irkutsk diocese.

Entrance-Jerusalem Church? What should I say ... The whole park here is like a slum. It's because it's a church in that atmosphere. I couldn't get inside because the surroundings were blocked like the picture above.

It's nice to see changes in the surrounding landscape and how organically fits into it is a small temple with a complex history.
