House-Museum of V.I. Kalashnikov is located on Pervomayskaya street. The house is an architectural monument of the 18th century. It belonged to the family of the shipbuilder Vasily Ivanovich Kalashnikov. The house has a wide exposition of antiquities (3 halls); capacity - a group of up to 10 people The former Kalashnikovs' house used to stand at the beginning of Saraiskaya Street. This home was somewhat more fortunate than the others, which were built before the regular plan was developed. The Kalashnikovs' house remained on the red line, and besides, the facade came out onto a small triangular-shaped square, created specifically for viewing the Epiphany Monastery. The Kalashnikovs' house, unlike other buildings of the same time, is partially made of stone. The front part is rather short and has two floors. There are already noticeable features of order architecture, which are closely intertwined with wooden architecture. At the corners of the basement there are rusticated blades, the windows are framed with simple platbands. The top floor is quite high. It is processed with narrow pilasters with inserts made of painted tiles (a rather original technique for decorating a residential building). The platbands of the three windows are made in the form of a flat frame adjoining the wall, finished with an onion sandrick. A rounded apron below echoes it. Tiles are also inserted into the corner projections. The facade order is straightforward and simple. Pilasters, platbands, rustic stones seem to flow along the house facade and, bending, take the softest and most refined profiles. Small rods and curls are a piece of jewelry craftsmanship. In general, the facade of this house resembles a face with open eyes and a friendly expression. This building seems to have come out of a popular print and is a special creation of architecture. There is another large wooden volume in the back of the house, which gives the house a three-part plan. Powerful round logs are very remarkable. On the side of the house is a simple wooden porch. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the roof of the house was covered with a high plank roof, but it was replaced with a flatter one. Today Kalashnikov's house has been well restored, thanks to the efforts of the well-known patron and collector of antiquities in the city, Yuri Miloslavovich Pervov, and pleases the eyes of the townspeople. The house is notable not only for its architecture, but also for the fact that the famous designer of steam engines, heat mechanic, Kalashnikov Vasily Ivanovich was born and grew up here. This is his ancestral home.
