One of the largest museums of this kind in the world. The collection includes something very special: meteorites and stones that glow in the UV light! Tips: the glowing stones are hidden in the back of the central hall and they can only be seen if you take a guided tour. But if you ask the staff about them, they will probably be kind enough to show them to you. It's a pity they keep such wonders off the main display! But overall, be prepared to be taken by surprise by the diversity and the amazing colours you will find in this museum.

Awesome collection but most of glass cases have no backlight and after sunset that stones are barely recognizable. Thus, pro tip: it's better visiting during daylight time and you need at least 4 hours to inspect all the collection thoroughly.

This museum is a hidden gem in the capital of Russia. The 100 percent educational experience is guaranteed. Supposing they wanted to know my humble opinion how to have 6 stars, I would say that they need a professional gaffer (light designer) to improve the inner atmosphere of the museum and to add some drama.

The place is full of beautiful samples of minerals. If you are a student of any geological college, you have to visit the museum for free. Every first and last Wednesday of a month is free for visit. If you want to look at the beauty of the Mother Nature, you have to visit this museum with the history of over 300 years!
