Very spectacular cathedral! Today (July 2019) it was partially closed for interior restoration. Exterior restoration is just finished and the building shines with fresh paint.

The appearance of the cathedral at this place dates back to the beginning of the 17th century. In 1841 the church was consecrated by St. Anthony (Smirnitsky), Archbishop of Voronezh and Zadonsky. In 1948 the Church of the Intercession became a cathedral. In 1989, the relics of the first throne of Voronezh Saint Mitrofan were transferred to the cathedral.
