The Church of the Savior of the All-Merciful is the most beautiful and picturesque of all the churches in Belozersk. Built in 1723 on the shore of the White Lake, it looked then in its waters. The location for the church was chosen very well - despite the fact that it is not on the top, but on the slope of a small hill, the church can be seen from many points of the city. People called her "Savior under the Mountain". When the Belozersky by-pass channel appeared in the middle of the 19th century, the Church of the Savior of the All-Merciful was on its shore. It was called "Savior on the Canal", under this unofficial name, it is most known to this day. This is an architectural monument of federal significance. In 1753 there was a strong fire in the church, the interior decoration and the iconostasis were irretrievably lost. The church was renovated in 1755, and in this form has reached our days. In the 1930s the Church of the Savior of the All-Merciful was closed and used for various economic needs, there was a gymnasium, then the church was taken over by the museum. During the existence of the temple, repairs and renovations were repeatedly carried out, and in our time - restoration works. In 2011-2012. A large complex of repair and restoration works was carried out, in preparation for the anniversary of the city. Archbishop of Vologda and Veliky Ustyug Maximilian in August 2012 served in the Church of the Savior of the All-Merciful first after the restoration of the moleben.
