Archangel churchyard in Kurovichy - Archangel Michael Church Fifteen kilometers west of Kimr, far from roads and villages, in the middle of the forest stands the Church of Archangel Michael. Once upon a time there was a churchyard (and, according to some reports, a village), Arkhangelsky, in Kurovichi, Kashinsky, and then in Korchevsky Uyezd. It is known that a wooden church that stood here from ancient times burned down on July 2, 1757, and parishioners were allowed to build a new one in the same place, also a wooden one - in the name of Archangel Michael with the aisle of Dimitri, Metropolitan of Rostov, the Miracle Worker. The church was consecrated in 1759, renovated in 1773, in 1800, and by the 1820s. began to fall into disrepair. Instead, parishioners decided to build a stone church on their own capital with the use of a church purse amount. The charter was given with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Jonah on March 22, 1826. The church was built for thirteen years according to the plan and facade, approved by the provincial architect, 4 fathoms from the old wooden church. From the inventory of the Archangel Church it is known that its length with an altar and a chapel was 51 arshins, a width of 20, a height of 30; "Neck with a cross - 6 arshins in height." Archpriest Vasily Ioannov, dean of the village of Kimry, consecrated the church: the main throne was in the name of Archangel Michael in 1839, and the warm chapel (on the right) in the name of the Mother of God of Vladimir was in 1840. The fact that there was once a stone belfry at the church, preserved archival documents report: it was erected by the parishioners in 1839, consisted of two tiers, "had 33 arshins in height." There is evidence that in the late 1840s. new spire and cross were installed on the bell tower, instead of the old ones, torn and broken by a storm. The land under the church and the wooden fence was listed as about one thousand two hundred square fathoms. In the early 1850s. a stone fence was erected, about which at present nothing even reminds. According to 1910, a priest, deacon, and psalmist served at the church. The parish also had a stone chapel built in the village of Baranovskaya in 1897 by the merchant Nikita Timofeev Rakhmanov in memory of Emperor Alexander II. In general, the parish was made up of more than two and a half thousand people - residents of the villages: Dymovo, Zolotilovo, Ivankovo, Frolovskoye, Yurkino, Azarovo, Stroevo, Gorychkino, Baranovskaya, Borodino, Lartsevo, Kokorevo, Ignatovo. Only a small part of the Arkhangelsk church has survived to this day. It is a quadruple rotunda sprouted almost through greenery, which is completed by a dome with a small drum. This building has been standing in complete abandonment and emptiness for many years. In 1839, the main throne of the church was consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael; a year later - a warm chapel with a throne in the name of the icon of the Mother of God of Vladimir. The rank of consecration of both thrones was performed by Archpriest of the Kimry Pokrovsky Cathedral Vasily Ioannov. The old wooden church was dismantled. In 1934 the priest Izmail Kudryavtsev, a native of s. Sadunova Korchevsky County (now Kimrsky District). On September 20, 1937, he was sentenced to capital punishment by the “troika” of the NKVD in the Kalinin Region. Ismail Kudryavtsev was shot on September 23 of the same year. Rehabilitated on June 6, 1989. In 2000, Izmail Kudryavtsev was numbered by the Russian Orthodox Church as a new martyr and confessor of the twentieth century. In the mid-1930s, the Archangel Church was closed.
