One of the oldest stone churches on the land. The church was built in 1786 on a wooden site and the service in it is still being carried out. From 1986 to 1993, there was cancer with the relics of the holy pious princess Anna Kashinskaya. The presence of the wooden church of Christmas is mentioned in the records of the Watch Book of 1621, which also reports that before the Polish-Lithuanian ruin in Kashin, there were forty parish churches. It is believed that the posad on Mount, located far from the fortified city, appeared already in the 13th century. It is protected from attack from the southeast by a river and a high bank. The city of Kashin was first mentioned in written sources (Nikon Chronicle) among other cities, ruined by the Mongol-Tatars in 1238. Attention is drawn to the location of the city not on a large river (Volga) but on a tributary (Kashinka) 10 versts from the mouth. The settlement seemed to be hiding (from dashing people - the Varangians?). A record under the 863 year in the Ustyugensky (Archangelogorodsky) arch, when the Varangians (enemies, strangers, robbers, spongers) Askold and Dir and his guard walked around the city of Smolensk with a side, as it was heavily fortified and populous. Kiev - the mother of Russian cities - was not yet. It can be argued that a settlement with a fortified center existed before unification (conquest, conquest) in 10-12 centuries. In Kashin minted their own coins, conducted chronicle work. From here comes a unique manuscript of 1415 - the Book Kaaf, who died in a fire in 1767. For the safety of the settlement, the appropriate relief was selected: a hill surrounded by water, possibly partially padded by hand. In addition, two shafts were dug and a moat was dug. The length of the walls of the fortress was according to one information, 415.5 sazhens (888 meters), on the other - 468 sazhens (kilometer). This fortress could not be taken in 1288 by Prince Dmitry Borisovich of Rostov along with the troops of princes Dmitry Pereyaslavsky, Andrei Gorodetsky, Daniel Moskovsky. The united forces stood under Kashin for 9 days. In 1370 - Kashin was besieged by the troops of Mikhail Aleksandrovich Tverskoi along with the Lithuanians invited by him under the leadership of Vitovt and the Poles. Posada were burned, but the city was never taken. We paid the rent in 3000 rubles. Since 1485 Kashin became a member of the Moscow Principality. By this time, there were three main roads: Bezhetsky Top, Dmitrov and Uglich.
