Philip Church

The church was built in 1873-1874 according to the project of engineer-architect Savelyev on the site of the first wooden church of the same name and is a one-domed gate building with one passage arch. There is a legend that during the transfer of the relics of Philip - Metropolitan of Moscow, who was killed by order of Ivan the Terrible, from the Solovetsky Monastery to Moscow, he appeared in a sleepy vision to Patriarch Nikon, blessing him to build a monastery in Valdai. Since then, Philip is considered the patron saint of the Iberian monastery. Like all the buildings of the monastery, the Filippovsky temple was transferred to the Church in a dilapidated state. Not so long ago, restoration was completed in it.
