The place where the monument is located is significant, because it was in the school next to which it was installed that the military hospital was located until September 1948. In addition, the front line of the city's defense passed here. ⭐️ Thanks to the heroism of the Tula nurses, many wounded soldiers survived: in Tula, during the Great Patriotic War, the lives of more than 162 thousand wounded soldiers were saved. ⭐️ The monument, created by the sculptor Valery Shanov, is made of bronze and installed at the initiative of the Russian Military Historical Society of the Russian Federation. “There was a military hospital here during the war years,” Vladimir Medinsky said in his speech. - Tula became that living fortress that the Nazis could not overcome. I can hardly imagine how a hospital could work here: this area was under fire. "

Such a large-scale composition dedicated to the feat of military doctors appeared in Russia for the first time. The place of its installation was not chosen by chance: in October 1941, the building of the Gymnasium No. 20 was located on the front line of the Tula defense, and an anti-aircraft crew was installed nearby to repel the tank attacks of German troops. From the first days of the war, a military hospital was located at the school.
