Krapivinskiy Dendrariy

The dendrological garden is located on the estate of the forestry-technical school in the village of Selivanovo, Shchekino district, Tula region, 23 km west of Shchekino. The total area of ​​the dendrological garden is 5.5 hectares. In 1978, by the decision of the Tula Regional Executive Committee, the dendrological garden was declared a "Natural Monument", and in 1998 it was declared a natural monument. accepted into the composition of the botanical gardens of Russia with the entry into the list of "Botanical gardens and arboretums included in the SBSR". The dendrological garden of the Krapivensky forestry-technical school was founded in 1929 on a vacant lot located to the south of the central estate on an area of ​​2.5 hectares. The soils are heavy loam, highly podzolized. Half of the area was occupied, where surface water stagnated for most of the growing season. It took a lot of work and effort for the staff of the technical school to turn this site into a place suitable for planting trees and shrubs. The entire site was divided into 19 blocks. The planning of the arboretum and planting was carried out under the guidance of a forestry teacher Ekaterina Ivanovna Popova-Perepechina.
