The stadium at that time was of great importance for the city and its residents, and it was called Shakhtar. How many interesting events took place there! He personally took part in many competitions. Every Sunday the matches of the district championship in football took place. The audience gathered so much that the vacant seats were empty only on the eastern stand. From there it was inconvenient to watch the game in sunny weather. All the stands and buildings were made of wood, the stadium was in good condition. Many came in families, in several pavilions there was a brisk trade in various baked goods, drinks and juices. Ice cream was sold in large quantities. From the loudspeakers before the matches and in the intervals came the songs of Gil, Obodzinsky and many other pop stars of the time. In general these were real holidays. I remember matches with veterans, real football stars Streltsov, Khomich, Chislenko and many others. Every Sunday so many citizens gathered for football, that after playing on the park’s avenue, the dam and the hanging bridge over the pond, human flows flowed for many minutes. In winter, a skating rink worked at the stadium, many went for a ride. It is a pity that now it is not in sight. The impression is, many in the city do not even know where the stadium is.
