Temple history The two-altar stone church was built in 1712 at the expense of the famous Kazan merchant, the builder of the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Kazan, Ivan Mikhlyaev, and rebuilt in 1896-1898 with the money of the Kazan merchant, a native of the village of Alat Zinovy Iosifovich Bazhenov - his father was the head of the church. In the church there was a locally revered image of the Kazan Mother of God, archaeologically a wonderful image of Our Lady of Smolensk carved on black stone. There is no preserved literary diploma. No information was also preserved by whom the temple was consecrated. The merchant and manufacturer well-known in Kazan, Mikhlyaev, probably, for the greater solemnity of the consecration of the church in the wilderness, invited an ardent temple-builder and enlightener of the Gentiles, Metropolitan Tikhon III. The throne in the main temple bears clear signs of bishop's consecration: a full (cross-shaped) girdle. The main temple exists in the form in which it was originally built from huge beams of wild stone: only three windows in the altar and one on the right choir expanded. In 1897-98, the church, with the exception of the altar, was rebuilt and enlarged in size with funds from a local native 3.I., due to cramped spaces and cracks. Bazhanov and others. There are no documentary information on visiting the church by the ruling bishops until 1867. At the consecration of the temple in 1712, there was Metropolitan Tikhon (Warriors), and Metropolitan Benjamin (Pucek-Grigorovich), according to legend, loved to live in a summer house near the parish village of Alan-Bekser. Therefore, he could visit the temple in Alat. In 1867 and 1889, the church was visited by Archbishop Anthony, in 1896 - Archbishop Vladimir, of the vicarious bishops: in 1890, the church was visited by Bishop Sergius, in January 1901 - by Bishop John, in July 1902 - by Bishop Alexy (Molchanov), September 2 1913 - Bishop Michael, December 16-17, 1914, October 9 and 12, 1915 - Bishop Anatoly. As can be seen from the ones printed by Professor I.M. Pokrovsky parish books of the Metropolitan of Kazan Tikhon for 1706, here before the existing stone church there were simultaneously wooden churches: the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the Resurrection of Christ. The celebration by believing villagers, in addition to the Kazan Icon of the Virgin, the Baptism of the Lord, as a feast day, prompts us to assume that the chapel in the Resurrection Church was in the name of the Epiphany. At the site of the Kazan Church, 70 fathoms lower to the north-west of the real church, a stone pillar chapel was set up, surrounded by a small fence. The cemetery that was near this church was occupied by residential buildings and fences. Previously, when digging the earth, there were skulls and other human bones. The place of the Resurrection Church is unknown and is not marked by anything. Old-timers say she was on Alat mountain. The exterior view of the existing stone temple shows the heavy, as if crushed by its weight old building of the main temple, not quite in harmony with the lighter new bell tower. Crosses over the temple and the bell tower are iron, gilded. During the construction of Mikhlyaev, he did not spare iron and stone. The walls are thick and durable. Not without reason, during the invasion of the Pugachevites in the summer of 1774, the population hoped to find not only one spiritual defense. A hole was made in the north door, which was made to observe the Pugachevites in 1774, who were saved in the church by the Alatians. The windows in the old part of the temple are small in two tiers, in the new - high. Entrance doors are located from the west and north. A stone fence with an iron grate: in addition to the western gate, there are also the same from the north side; The fence was built in 1886-1888. There were seven bells on the bell tower: the first - 106 pounds 13 feet cast in Saratov in 1882 at the Gudkov plant. It depicts the Kazan icon of the Mother of God, the Miraculous Image of the Savior, Archangel Michael, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and angels, as well as the inscription: "God bless the salvation of our God from day to day. Gospel, the earth, joy by command, praise the glory of God. O Lord, love the grace of Thy house and the place of the settlement of Thy glory. " The bell was purchased by the diligence of Archpriest N.L. Izmailov and the chairman of church law

It is good that we still have such churches in Russia. It’s sad to look at their condition, but still I hope for their recovery

Alat, a favorite place, we will never pass by. The oldest temple, a leisurely river behind it, the most beautiful places around
