Perhaps my favorite temple in Saratov. So elegant, sincere and touching, almost toy-like, that you want to pick it up and carry it with you. Very well located from a tourist point of view. You can walk along Kirov Avenue, see the church, relax in the wonderful Lipki park (where, by the way, there is free internet), and there is not far to the Volga!

At first, in the beautiful architectural appearance of this church in 1906, the presence of kokoshniks was embarrassing, which is typical of temples of the 15th and 17th centuries, but it was recalled that during Nicholas II, the revival of Old Russian traditions was popularized later called the pseudo Russian style. In addition to kokoshnikov, the interest of the architectural solution of the temple is that the large tent is surrounded by numerous motley decorated small domes. "Consolation in sorrows and sorrows" looks very festive. Of course, the Soviet times did not spare this church, but the attitude of the local authorities was surprisingly loyal. Here was a planetarium. From God to the sky close. Moreover, in the mid-60s (when the authorities of the country we already realized that 80% of the cultural and historical heritage of Russia was lost) the church was restored and the crosses returned to the kupala. In 1990, the temple was returned to believers.

Satisfy my sorrows. There has always been a wonderful Choir in this temple. The proximity of the Saratov Conservatory was not the last place

Temple history Photo Archive Chapel Church at the Bishop's House of Saratov Bishops. Beginning of the 20th century The chapel church at the Bishop’s House was built under the care of the holy holy martyr Germogen (Dolganev; † 1918), bishop of Saratov and Tsaritsynsky. Her project in 1903 (according to other sources - in 1904) was made by the Saratov architect Peter Mitrofanovich Zybin. Soon, construction began, ending in 1906. The stone tented church is a 2–2.5-fold reduction, slightly different from the original copy of the Pokrovsky Cathedral, located on Red Square in Moscow and popularly called St. Basil’s Cathedral. There was only one throne - in honor of the icon of the Mother of God, "In grief and sorrow, Consolation." According to legend, the temple icon was commissioned by Bishop Hermogenes on Mount Athos and was an exact copy of the wonderworking Athos prototype. The people called the church "Satisfy my sorrows." Divine services in the chapel church were performed daily by a monastic brotherhood from the Bishop's House. At the beginning of the 20th century, the monks included 16 monks and 13 novices. During the years of Soviet power, the building was preserved almost in its original form, however, like many other churches in Russia, it was not used for its intended purpose. By a resolution of the Presidium of the Lower Volga Regional Executive Committee of the Soviets of the Republic of Kazakhstan and K deputies dated January 28, 1930, the chapel church was closed with the conversion of its building into a club for the Mother and Baby House. Then, various organizations were located in the building, the last of which was a planetarium. The building has been preserved almost in its original form. In 2007, the temple underwent repair and restoration work: the roof was replaced, the tent of the main tower was made and installed, crosses were installed on small towers, the arch and walls in the altar of the church were repaired, the roof of the chapel of the chapel was repaired. Sergius of Radonezh, the facade of the temple and the refectory. In 2008-2009 the fire system was installed in the temple, the heating system was replaced, the roof of the temple, ventilation in the refectory were repaired, the two walls and altars “Satisfy My Sorrows” and Sergievsky were repaired and painted, the facade of the building was renovated. The temple in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Satisfy My Sorrows” is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance.
