In 1672, a stone temple was built on the site of a burnt wooden church. It was built on the model of the Church of John Chrysostom in Korovniki. In 1694, the temple underwent some restructuring. The southern aisle of the martyr Stephen was erected, in which a warm church was located. In 1831, the temple was significantly rebuilt. The southern aisle with a warm church is covered with an iron roof with a dome and descents. At the end of 1926 the parish was closed. In 1978-1981 the temple was restored. In July 2003, the church was transferred to the Yaroslavl Diocese.

The church was built in 1672, it was a prototype of the church of John Chrysostom in Korovniki, the temple was dedicated. The Orthodox festival of the Origins of the Honest Trees of the Cross of the Lord, which from the end of the 14th century was called Honey or the First Savior, but the old name of the church “Savior on the City” remained in common use among residents of the city. In 1918, the church was heavily damaged by shelling during the days of the White Guard uprising in the city, the famous restorer P. D. Baranovsky was commissioned to restore the church; he was the one who managed to save ancient frescoes. After 30 years of the last century, the church was used as a club and as a warehouse. Believers temple was transferred only in 2003
