Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (St. Nicholas the Wet) A striking example of Yaroslavl architecture. Built in 1665-1672 at the expense of the merchants A. Luzin, A. Lemin and the townspeople F. Vymorov and S. Tarabaev. The northern side-altar is dedicated to Saint Barbara, the southern one - to Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow. Frescoes from 1673-1674 have been preserved in the interiors. A very beautiful church. It is located next to Bolshaya Oktyabrskaya street, next to it there is a new planetarium.

The temple ensemble of St. Nicholas the Wet and Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God on the low bank of Kotorosli, in the former monastery Spasskaya settlement, began to be built in 1665 on the site of the old wooden pair of churches. Temples are located between the two tributaries of Kotorosli - the streams Pautov and Ershov. The center of the ensemble is the tall, beautiful church of St. Nicholas the Wet. Church of St. Nicholas Wet was built in the years 1665-1672 at the expense of Yaroslavl merchants living room hundreds Astafy Luzin and Andrei Lemin, as well as townspeople Fedor Vymorov and Stepan Tarabaev. The idea of the new church was grandiose; it was intended to combine the best features of the churches of John Chrysostom in Korovniki and Elijah the Prophet. However, the plan was not fully successful, since combining the features of a strictly symmetric church in Korovniki and an emphasized asymmetric Ilyinsky is not an easy task. And yet the temple turned out to be very interesting and unusual. Tall, without a basement, it is encircled on three sides by single-story galleries, at the ends of which two symmetrical tent aisles were arranged - Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, and Great Martyr Barbara. In the northwestern corner of the galleries, a slender hipped bell tower has been set up. In 1929 the temples were closed and both were given over to warehouses. In 1992 they were returned to believers, repaired, and now services are held here on holidays.

Church themes are not interested. The object of architecture was interesting, an interesting hip style. The truth is brought by time and, as it is clearly understood, it will not be reconstructed, a pity the historical monument of the 17th century. Built in 1665 in stone on the site of a pagan temple. In honor of the appearance of St. Tikhvin Mother of God.

It is worth coming here. The adjacent building is a planetarium. On the other hand, the Millennium Park and the concert hall. You can see the ferris wheel, go 3 minutes. You can return to the center on foot.
