Tserkov' Il'insko-Tikhonovskaya

The Church of Elijah the Prophet and Tikhon, Bishop of Amafunta, a late Yaroslavl church, built in the years 1825-1831 in the style of classicism, a rare church for Yaroslavl with two belfries (now both are dismantled). The Ilyinsko-Tikhonov Church is a large, spacious building, with a massive bulk and a large rectangular apse. On all four sides of the temple are decorated with identical tall porticoes in six Corinthian columns, with triangular pediments. Frescos are inscribed in the triangles of the pediments.

The windows on the drum are ugly and don't match the architecture of the church!

Going beyond the gates of this church, you are transported to another world, leaving behind all its hardships and grievances. The atmosphere makes you think about the eternal being of this mortal world. You realize how insignificant your life and everything that surrounds it is just dust.

The architectural execution of the church building is unusual for me; more on a state institution it seems. History.
