One of the few surviving monuments of ancient Russian architecture. After restoration, it acquired its original appearance. A dumb witness to the centuries-old history of Smolensk and Russia.

The church is white, built in 1146. The oldest church in the city of Smolensk. It has historical value that existed during the reign of Chiniz Khan. Its preservation to this day is direct evidence that, during the reign of Genghis Khan, churches existed in the territories joined by ancient Mongolia.
