The monument to Prince Oleg Ryazansky was erected on Cathedral Square in the city of Ryazan on October 28, 2007 - on the day of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Ryazan region. The bronze figure of the prince mounted on a horse mounted on a high pedestal was created under the leadership of Zurab Tsereteli, a sculptor and president of the Russian Academy of Arts. For all residents of Ryazan, the name of Prince Oleg Ioannovich is associated with deep respect and reverent veneration. And this attitude has passed through the centuries - the figure of the esteemed prince was first captured in 1626 on the emblem of the Ryazan land. In 1779, by the decree of Catherine II, the coat of arms of Ryazan was approved, depicting Prince Oleg holding a sword in his right hand on a golden background. Oleg Ryazansky is a monk prince and a peacemaking prince, who perceived his princedom as a cross laid upon him by the Lord in order to serve the benefit of his subjects. Therefore, the monument to this esteemed prince is a kind of gratitude to the inhabitants of Ryazan for all his worthy deeds. Oleg Ivanovich was the great Ryazan prince, during the reign of which the Ryazan principality reached its highest development. The ruler conducted a very delicate and competent policy in relation to the Golden Horde, Lithuania, the Moscow Principality. Oleg Ivanovich died in 1402 and was buried in the Intercession Church of the Solotchinsky monastery, which he himself founded.

Monument to the Grand Duke and defender of Ryazan Oleg, who became famous for the wise and skillful ruler of the Principality of Ryazan. Once I looked through the maps of campaigns and raids of nomads in the Middle Ages; they all passed by the Principality of Ryazan, without entering its territory, as if they were afraid of something. This, I think, speaks volumes.
