These are the ruins of the Assumption Church. The first mention of the church in this remote village is found in the sentinel and census book of 1681. Once upon a time there was still a large and beautiful Epiphany church. For many years they stood side by side in this remote corner. After the closure in 1939, the church was destroyed in order to obtain a brick and use it for the construction of collective farm buildings. The fate of the Epiphany Church is unknown. There was no trace of her. Judging by the masonry of the end of the 19th century, a monumental structure has been preserved, obviously created to decorate the area. An unknown architect boldly raised to the sky numerous arches resting on powerful columns. No matter how you look at the structure, on either side there are airy forms that gracefully hang in space. Pines, spruce and birch trees are planted on the top of the masonry, probably symbolizing the unity of man’s creation in stone and the almighty, but at the same time vulnerable, forces of nature. Most of all, the structure resembles the triumphal arches erected in honor of various victories of the great commanders. True, there are significant differences. Triumphal arches - flat designs. They face the facades towards the arrival of the winners, while their width remains insignificant. In the village of Prudki, we are dealing with a three-dimensional structure, which has a cross shape in plan. Hence two options: either the builders in the 19th century did not know which side to expect the winner from, or the designation of the ensemble of arches and columns was originally different. Who knows, maybe it is these ruins that testify to the fact that at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, our ancestors already knew how to build monumental structures not for some practical use, but for the sake of beauty, for the sake of pure art?
