At night in Kasimov it is so dark that a good camera could take beautiful photos of this temple surrounded by stars.

In 1571, Kasimov is described in the scribe books of Pyotr Voeikov as a wooden city, in which the wooden cathedral church of the Ascension of Christ is mentioned with a chapel in honor of the Beheading of the honest head of John the Baptist. However, the church mentioned in the scribe books burned down on June 3, 1679, as can be seen from the petition of the cathedral priest to His Grace Bishop Joseph, Metropolitan of Ryazan. Cathedral icons survived and were transferred to the Pushkar Nicholas Church. There are no exact indications of when the new church was erected, but the historians attribute the construction of the new cathedral to the 17th century. But at the beginning of the XVII century, and this temple burned down. The construction of a five-domed stone cathedral of the Ascension Church with a chapel in honor of John the Baptist near the wooden one was started with the blessing of His Grace Alexy Titov. The construction was financed by the efforts of the Kasimovsky governor Vasily Mikhailovich Khovrin and began on March 27, 1748. On June 13, 1754, the cathedral was consecrated according to the temple sanctuary given by Metropolitan Dimitry Sechenov. In 1779, a stone bell tower was built instead of a wooden one on six pillars. Funds for it were given by Vasily Andreyevich Gubarev. In 1876-1878, repair work took place in the temple. A new expanded altar was built, a new iconostasis was built and the walls of the temple were painted. On August 8, 1787, the church was consecrated by the archimandrite of the Solotchinsky monastery Ioannikiy and the cathedral archpriest Fedor Ipatiev. By 1790, in the temple, with the zeal of V.A. Gubarev, instead of one, two chapels were arranged. On the right side in the name of the Beheading of John the Baptist and St. Basil the Great, and on the left - in the name of St. Demetrius of Rostov the Wonderworker and St. Catherine the Great Martyr. The temple was consecrated in 1790, on anti-mins issued from the Assumption Cathedral.

City Kasimov liked at first sight. Something is in him primordially Russian and Tatar. The city is divided into two parts: Russian and Tatar, where two peoples from the past centuries lived together. Ascension Cathedral is beautiful and majestic. Were at the feast of the Holy Trinity, the temple was covered with clover (in the truest sense of the word), it smelled of grass, incense and grace. May God grant health and happiness and patience to our Russian small towns, villages and villages. Cheers dear.

Cathedral in the city of Kasimov, on the high bank of the Oka River. Very majestic building, which is located on the old trading square. The current church, in which services are conducted, is a church shop. The entrance to the temple is on a high podium, from which a beautiful view of the river and the shopping area.
