Nice chapel.

Little chapel. Looks in combination with the walls of the fortress. Shoot better at dawn.

Tiny at all

The stone chapel was built in neo-Russian style according to the project of A.I. Vladovsky near the Talavskaya tower of the Izborsk fortress. Single-headed, square in plan, with elements of ancient decor. On the eastern wall there is a mortgage board with an inscription of the temple. Material - limestone slab; plastered. The chapel stands on the site of an ancient burial ground; it is believed that this is the grave of the Izborians who died during the defense of the Izborsk fortress in 1657. Built in the “Estonian time” in 1929 (according to other sources in 1931) according to the project of architect A. Vladovsky in honor of the appearance of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Korsun. (The icon was stolen in March 1981 and its whereabouts are unknown.)

Next to the Talavka tower is the Korsun Chapel, erected by the Izborians in 1929 according to the project of the architect Vladovsky, The choice of a place for the chapel is not accidental: it was here, at the Talava Tower, in the 17th century that the appearance of the Izborsk miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Korsun was noted. The miraculous obraz of Our Lady more than once defended the people from the Germans in 1685 and in 1944. And more recently, the fact became known that the terminally ill wife of a former naval officer, Izborsk merchant L. Kostenko-Radzievsky, was healed with God's help, and her husband, shocked by what happened, invested all the money in the construction of this chapel.
